SOPA and PIPA Resistance Win 1st Battle

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid delayed a vote on the Protect IP Act (Pipa) scheduled for Tuesday.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith then said his panel would not consider the Stop Online Piracy Act (Sopa) until a compromise was reached. The decisions follow protests by online encyclopaedia Wikipedia, and thousands of other websites, which blacked-out in protest for 24 hours earlier in the week.

“In light of recent events, I have decided to postpone Tuesday’s vote on the PROTECT IP Act,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, said on his twitter page on Friday.

Now things seem to be working towards a good direction, but beware you will most likely see both SOPA and PIPA  again reworded in the near future. One would think that after there recent success at shutting down megaupload.com and arresting its heads, that the current laws work if they utilize them.

Just remember one battle does not win a war !
